This morning Ryan asked me if I had changed Cael's diaper in the middle of the night (Cael was up at 1:00 crying because of his ear). His diaper was completely dry, which is very unusual. Usually after sleeping for 10-12 hours his diaper is a wet soggy mess so we were pretty concerned. We checked his mouth to make sure it wasn't dry and that his lips weren't chapped. He appeared to be okay so we decided to drop him off at daycare and to check up on him mid-morning. I called the daycare and he hadn't had a wet diaper all morning, but had diarrhea. I spoke to the pediatrician's office and they said the main concern with the lack of wet diapers is dehydration and suggested we give him Pedialyte every five minutes for the next couple of hours. I called Ryan and he left work to go pick up Cael and take him home. The doctor's office was not overly concerned at this point, but they did want us to check back after 2:00 pm to report his status. The nurse also reassured me that this is pretty common with young children who are on antibiotic so that made me feel better too! Poor baby! He can't seem to catch a break! Teething, ear infection, cold, diarrhea..... what a trooper!
Update: Cael is doing much better. He has had a couple of wet diapers so it appears as though the Pedialyte worked and things are looking up!!

Well, no one can ever say he's not a trooper!! LOL He's overcome several hurdles in his short little life. It's probably harder on you than on him...sometimes at least. Give him a smooch for me!
